At Autonomic Materials, Inc., we use advanced materials science to design smart protective materials that protect our most critical metal assets, protect the people that interact with those assets, and protect the environment.

Our protective solutions are anchored by our award-winning patented self-healing technology, which when incorporated into coatings helps them maintain their ability to protect key assets after damage. Our technology is based on microcapsules that contain healing agents – a blend of resins, corrosion inhibitors, and adhesion promoters. When a coating incorporating our technology is damaged, the microcapsules embedded in the coating are broken releasing the healing agent into the site of damage where it cures maintaining the coating’s adhesion and its ability to protect the underlying surface.

Our self-healing technology provides a vehicle towards coating products that minimize the CO2 impact of maintaining critical assets by decreasing VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) component and extending the lifetime of coating systems and the assets they protect.
